John Biddle
I’m John Biddle — Operating Department Practitioner, Surgical First Assistant, educator, and writer. My clinical work spans the full perioperative pathway across all surgical specialities, in both NHS and private settings. I have extensive experience in trauma, transplant and organ retrieval, paediatrics, and complex elective surgery. My practice covers every element of perioperative care: patient positioning, blood product management, airway management, resuscitation, cell salvage, and the safe use of EBME and specialist theatre equipment.
Teaching and developing others is an important part of my work. I provide education and training across the full perioperative spectrum, both in practice and through structured learning. I have a particular passion for human factors, team dynamics, and the ways in which multidisciplinary teams function under pressure. Setting high standards of care matters to me. My approach is grounded in the principles of biomedical ethics (Beauchamp and Childress), and the six C’s of care that underpin modern professional practice.
Before moving into healthcare, I served with the Royal Anglian Regiment. That military background gave me a grounding in discipline, resilience, and calm under pressure. Qualities that still shape my professional life.
Through Clinical Narratives, I provide medico-legal expert witness reports and medical writing, informed by real-world experience. Whether preparing a court-ready report or writing clinical content, my focus is always the same: clarity, accuracy, and professional integrity.
